“The rich-voiced Deanna
Dove”
-
The Washington Post
Deanna Dove has established her reputation as a powerful, earthy singer, a multi-talented musician and guitarist and distinctive songwriter. She's earned a loyal audience for her ability to craft songs that include elements of rock, pop, blues, alt-country and gospel into a distinctly individual style that has earned her the accolade of "musical Nirvana." Dove’s lifelong experiences on and around the Chesapeake Bay have contributed to her compositional writing style.

Growing up on the Patuxent River in Broomes Island,
Maryland, she and her sisters formed the Dove
Sisters Trio. The Dove Sisters were a very popular Sunday morning entertainment feature on the first local radio station in their area, WMJS 92.7 Prince Frederick, MD.
The young trio sang popular gospel hymns and Deanna accompanied her sisters with beautiful harmonies and her electric guitar. The sisters moved on performing at talent shows, telethons and church revivals. |
Later, Deanna began performing in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia club circuit with bands such as "Snafu" and "Nick Danger and The Untouchables" while subsequently pursuing her other positions as an ACE certified fitness instructor as well as a training specialist teaching computer software classes around the country. Having covered both the male and female lead vocal fronting positions for numerous bands and after the 1998 break-up of her band, "Deanna Dove & Blues Power", Dove decided to establish herself as a solo artist and went full time in 2002.

Dove’s debut album Chesapeake was released in May 2003, and soon became a critical success. Chesapeake sold over 3,000 copies and it was through this album Dove presented her life on the bay, putting an unmistakably personal spin on this set of songs that also draws on a universal feeling of living anywhere on any body of water.

| |
The title track, Chesapeake is featured as the theme song for the "Voices of the Chesapeake Bay," a Sunday morning radio program produced by Michael Buckley on WRNR 103.1, Annapolis, MD. Chesapeake was also released on the 2005 compilation disc Songs of the Chesapeake Bay, and is featured in numerous films, documentaries and advertisements.

Dove’s newest album Peace, Love & Crabs mixes rock, pop, and alt-country, and earned numerous accolades from press and fans. In addition to her acclaimed Nashville band—Marshal Richardson and Steve Holland (drums), Justin Schipper (guitars), and Chris Autry (bass)—Deanna worked with hit songwriter and producer Billy “Zig” Herzig to create a fun and uplifting album. |

The track Lay Down With Dogs gets its name from a well used phrase Dove heard often from her father at the kitchen table and also from reading a book while in Nashville entitled Unhooked: How Young Women Pursue Sex, Delay Love and Lose at Both, by Laura Sessions Stepp. “I wrote the song in hopes to get a “red alert” out to young women today, says Dove.” Dove comments that the song You Guys was written to enviously jab at young males who grow up having their mothers take care of business for them while they take care of business learning how to play the guitar. |
Dove performs live on WRNR 103.1 Annapolis, MD and on WRYR 97.5 Churchton, MD. Her music can be heard on radio programs throughout the country as well as Belgium, the British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica and the Netherlands. Word of mouth praise has lead to rave reviews in magazines such as Chesapeake Life, Nor’easter Mid-Atlantic, Latitudes and Attitudes and Soundings, which continue to lead her to high profile appearances at the Historic Avalon Theatre, Easton, MD, Ram’s Head Stage, Annapolis, MD and innumerable venues from New Jersey to the Caribbean. |

Currently on her "Peace, Love & Crabs” tour, Dove performs in her hometown in an activist role in support of public awareness for restoring and preserving the Chesapeake Bay. For Dove’s tour schedule, song lyrics and more information about her recordings, please visit
